I Broke My Arm and Asked My Husband for Help With Our 5-Month-Old Twins—His Cruel Response, “Moms Don’t Get Sick Days,” Changed Everything
When I broke my arm, I thought my husband would finally understand how much I needed him.
We had five-month-old twins, and suddenly, even the simplest tasks became painful. Lifting both babies, preparing bottles, changing diapers, and carrying them from room to room felt nearly impossible.
That night, exhausted and hurting, I asked my husband for help.
He barely looked up.
“Moms don't get sick days,” he said.
I stared at him in disbelief.
For months, I had cared for our twins around the clock. I woke up during the night, fed them, cleaned the house, managed appointments, and somehow kept everything moving.
But now I had a broken arm.
And he still believed nothing should change.
I didn't argue.
Instead, I spent the next few days doing what I could while quietly realizing something important: a family is supposed to be a partnership.
Then one afternoon, everything changed.
I received a call from my sister.
After hearing what had happened, she arrived at our house and took one look at my injured arm.
“Where is your husband?” she asked.
When I explained his response, her face changed.
She walked into the living room, where he was sitting comfortably, and said something he never expected to hear.
Within minutes, the conversation turned into the biggest confrontation of our marriage.
Because for the first time, someone made him understand that motherhood is not a job with no limits—and a husband is not doing his wife a favor when he helps care for his own children.
